Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES).
This is an extended scope of practice for a Speech Pathologist
Includes:
Nasendoscopy of the larynx and pharynx whilst eating/drinking
Thorough Speech Pathology Instrumental Assessment AND Ear Nose and Throat consultation
Biofeedback and more accurate therapeutic direction
Detailed report
On-referrals, letters, communication made using this detailed instrumental assessment
Additional competencies of practice:
Videofluoroscopy (swallow x-ray) - Completed offsite through the hospital
Tracheostomy
Laryngectomy
Areas of Interests: Adult population
Dysphagia, voice, upper airway dysfunction (such as chronic cough), stroke, progressive neurological conditions, head and neck cancer
