Advanced Practice:

  • Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES).

    This is an extended scope of practice for a Speech Pathologist

    Includes:

  • Nasendoscopy of the larynx and pharynx whilst eating/drinking

  • Thorough Speech Pathology Instrumental Assessment AND Ear Nose and Throat consultation

  • Biofeedback and more accurate therapeutic direction

  • Detailed report

  • On-referrals, letters, communication made using this detailed instrumental assessment

Additional competencies of practice:

  • Videofluoroscopy (swallow x-ray) - Completed offsite through the hospital

  • Tracheostomy

  • Laryngectomy

Areas of Interests: Adult population

Dysphagia, voice, upper airway dysfunction (such as chronic cough), stroke, progressive neurological conditions, head and neck cancer

Work:

  • ICU, ED, stroke, general medical, oncology, outpatient clinics

  • Clinical educator and university lecturer

  • Master's in Health Leadership and Management

GP’s, ENT’s, Neurologists, Allied Health, Nursing, professional voice teachers, self-referrals, NDIS plan managers and more.

Referrals are best accompanied by relevant information on the swallowing, voice or communication impairment to be investigated/managed
